Background Story:
I wrote this song back in April 2015, around the same I drafted an article for Barangay Ayala so it gets included in the Wikipedia. I wrote Mi Barangay in its entirety while at work, without any guitar or a musical instrument. It was just all in my head. I would hum or sing it while going to lunch. I had the melody and lyrics in my mind, but I never knew which chords it will play. The song was suppose to brag about how much I love my own little town back in Zamboanga City. I’ve been away for too long and I guess I was missing my place so much that this song made me want to go back and be home again.
I’ve been writing songs since I was in college. You can find most of the songs I’ve written here in my website. Though I’m not an excellent singer, I knew I wanted to share my favorite chavacano composition, so I had to do a demo. The song I uploaded on Youtube and FB was recorded just with my cellphone and the instruments was from an android app called chordbot. Then I mixed them in Adobe Audition. Viola! Demo is done! 🙂
